Rabbits are gentle, playful and sociable animals. In the wild, they graze freely at night and spend the day underground in large groups. Their finely tuned senses are sensitive to danger, picking up the slightest movement. When under threat, rabbits thump their hind legs to warn each other and then scamper into their burrows.
There is no escape for a rabbit who is locked in a barren laboratory cage. No matter how desperately he signals danger, nobody comes to his aid. Instead of the safety of his burrow and the company of his kind, he is confined for his entire life to a cage in a barren room with no contact – except that of the laboratory staff and vivisectors who conduct their terrible tests on him.
Rabbits who were abused in deadly tea tests were forced to eat fatty and cholesterol-laden foods until they suffered from extremely high cholesterol levels and severe hardening of the arteries . They were then given green tea to see if it would have any beneficial effect – even though millions of people drink tea, and humane studies of them could have found out the same information. Afterwards, workers cut off the rabbits' heads.
There is no possible justification for inflicting pain, fear and death on these peaceful animals.
Experimentation on animals is cruel and must stop – and we need your help to ensure it does. Please make the most generous donation you can afford to support our work to end the abuse of all animals.
Three and a half million individual animals, from rabbits and monkeys to dogs and cats, were abused and killed in the vivisection industry last year in Britain.
We have achieved victories that have saved millions of animals. Following research funded by PETA, tests that can burn the tender skin of rabbits with chemicals are being replaced by non-animal chemical tests. And in response to pressure from PETA, and our affiliates, European regulators have taken steps to prevent duplicative toxicity tests on millions of rats and mice. More than 1,000 businesses, including Ocean Spray and Welch's, have banned tests on animals thanks to the groundbreaking work of PETA affiliates around the world. Together, we can persuade other companies to do the same.
There is something you can do to help animals who are suffering in laboratories as well as other abused animals around the world. Please support PETA today with an important donation to help us carry out our life-saving work for animals wherever they are.
For the sake of helpless rabbits and the millions of other animals suffering in laboratories, please support us today. Thank you.
Very truly yours,

PS Remember: you can pressure PG Tip's, Lyons and Lipton by refusing to buy their teas until the company stops testing on animals. Consumer action such as this has influenced big companies around the world to stop abusing animals.
